Bumper Stickers

So I was reading the following post on a blog I follow occasionally

http://dadbipolar.blogspot.com/2010/04/hey-get-away-from-that-horse-freak.html#comments

in particular the section on bumper stickers caught me and I started thinking….always dangerous. What does my collection of owned and want to own stickers say about me:

If guns are outlawed can we use swords

Lets go Viking!

Umm thanks.......

:>

1) I read way to much fanfiction and cant seem to stop wanting to write more of it

2) I could have had more dates in High School if I did not have morals and tried to follow them

3) I have left a job before because I figured out how to kill just about all the other employees without being caught on video doing it.

4) I can come up with great scenes for stories and can tell good stories but I lack the skill to turn them into written complete stories

5) I eat Pocki

6) I am becoming that which I always wanted to...the Dirty old man from anime....and I dont know if thats a good thing or not

7) In highschool I joined a historical reenactment group called Regia Anglorum and since then have become obsessed with historical melee combat

8) I believe in the existence of magic and psychic abilities and phenomenon

9) College, aside from the friends I made, was probably the worst thing I ever did, I liked the classes I took and what I did with my degree but I should never have gone straight from high school.

10) I enjoy answering interview questions oddly in sucha ay that the interviewer is not sure about how to take the answer, example:
"Have you ever had to handle confidential information and how did you deal with it?"

"I am sorry I am not at liberty to discuss that."

Pulled that one on the guy interviewing me for the promotion I just got and he gave me this blank look for about a minute and then said:

"Alright then."

Muhahahahahahahahaha sometimes I am evil, but mostly I have realized over time that while I might like a person I hate people.

Poetry

I feel safer posting this here rather than on the Writers Forum, Jaleh keeps saying I should put it up somewhere so here it is. This poem was written based on events of a character of mine in a LARP, I had decided a few months prior to stop playing the character and was later convinced to bring him back into game so had to come up with a good reason, hence the poem.

The character had jumped into a portal leading to a Chaos plane and was rescued by an unlikely source. The italicized parts are supposed to be like a voice whispering int he back of your mind.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alone

Rivers awash in scarlet hues
The sun is setting
And in my mind I am alone

The shifting portal beckons me
In my mind I am alone
I take a breath, let's go and see

What terrors now attack
While in my mind I am alone
The battle begins I can not go back

Water and Earth I throw
For in my mind I am alone
Fire and Wind force them to slow

I seek a doorway, a portal home
For in my mind I am alone
AHH!!! There it is the precious tome.

It holds the key to my friend
For in my mind I am alone
The beast is there and seeks to end

My sacred quest, my one true goal
To keep me in my mind alone
Its claws are sharp, its eyes like coal

I will in glory laden be
If not in my mind alone
If conquer I this thing before me

My spells all fail, my daggers break
truly in my mind alone
And in my boots do I begin to quake

An almost endless eternity
To be in my mind alone
Was I tortured by that twisted sea

And then to my wonder
Maybe not in my mind alone
Something my bonds do sunder

One left behind safe and sound
I thought I was in my mind alone
Has come and brought me safe to ground

Escorted by one I thought
In my grieving mind alone
His freedom I was to have bought

They share a smile and fading away
While in my mind I grieve alone
But as they go I hear them say

"Your duties done for a time"
While in my mind I cry alone
"Remember happiness is not a crime"

I will my friends see again one day
And not in my mind remain alone
When need I here no longer stay

My story done, for a time
In my mind I am not alone
I pray to thee to remember my crime

Remain not in your mind alone
I realize now what I should have known
There are always friends to bring you home

hmmmm

Saw this trolling a message board today and dang it makes you think:

This little gem came about from reading the evil overlord list at eviloverlord.com

I am hoping to go somewhere with this but its low down on the list of stories I have to write.

Book Recommendation

Occasionally, on message boards people ask me for information on sword fighting history and techniques. While it is hard to write the moves and techniques down, the history of it is not.

A few years ago my folks got me By the Sword by Richard Cohen

I highly recommend that everyone who wants to learn about the history of Fencing and Sword fighting should read this book.

ISBN 037550417-6
copyright 2002 by Narrative Tension

If you want to learn the moves and techniques, I recommend talking to your local University fencing instructor (if they have one) and see what they can tell you. Hopefully I will be able to locate in the various boxes of our library the manual I got when I took fencing in college and will be able to post it on here for your perusal. Also your local Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) chapter is a good place to get factual and useful information on historical fighting and not sport/competition fighting.

I can also probably be talked into trying to put some basic fencing instruction into writing although I am rusty if you need it and am more than willing to review fight scenes for plausibility. My rates are cheap: cookies and Mt.Dew :P

Whoever said ancient sports were wimpy
